the last day of fall quarter EVER for my undergraduate career!! & today, i spent it sleeping in ‘til 1 & missing my last & only class. i think think sums of my fall quarter: ABSENT. well, at least i’m getting A’s… right??

i love her. i love her more and more and more every day that we’re both alive. i’ve loved her since the early days of what memories i have of her. i’ve loved her since she took me to school on the first day & i cried outside, begging her to stay with me. i’ve loved her since the days when she would give me money to buy milk and ice cream. i’ve loved her since the times that she would nurse me back from flus, colds, coughs, and pains. i’ve loved her since i knew the rice that she cooked for dinner was the best rice i’ve ever tasted. i’ve loved her since i found a family portrait of her holding me lovingly in her arms. i’ve loved her since i was old enough to realize how strong she was to raise ALL 17 of her grandchildren. i’ve loved her since… forever.
& i know that she loves me too. she loves me because she held my hand for the first time since i was a child this past weekend. she loves me because she doesn’t cringe away from my hugs. she loves me because she scolds me for not calling her the DAY i return home from school. she loves me because she gives me whatever support i need to safe-guard my future. she loves me because she tells me about her childhood and opens up her emotions about her husband, my grandpa. she loves me because she waits for me when we have appointments. she loves me because she trusts my driving and gets in the car. she loves me because she’ll ask me about everything in my life. she loves me because i am her granddaughter. she loves me.
i hate hypocrites & the funny thing is, you’re the BIGGEST one i know. it sucks that i can’t find the courage (YET) to confront you on everything that bothers me, but truthfully, one of these days i will.

the highlight of my fall quarter: given the opportunity to be a new ambassador for alumni affair’s discovery initiative. when i’m in this environment, i feel myself performing at my highest. i’m constantly inspired and motivated in this position and surrounded by goal-oriented and positive-minded individuals. & what i do is exactly what i do best: talk and listen.
so far, i can definitely say that i have been blessed to have been employed by International Affairs under Reyna and Michelle, and now with Armin and Greg at Discovery Initiative. those who provide me guidance and support are those i truly respect and feel most comfortable with, which i find to be the second most important thing about being successful at work.
